Whether singing with a live band or with recorded background musical tracks, this artist recreates the excitement and high energy vocals of Streisand’s most powerful numbers and at the same time has the capability of singing with a beauty and purity of sound essential for the ballads that are so closely associated with this greatest of all singing actresses.
This experienced performer brings to this project more than 25 years of work as a professional singer and stage performer, as well as a passion for and appreciation of the exquisite artistry of Ms Streisand. Having spent most of her career as a classically trained opera singer, she has always been inspired by and drawn to the voice and persona of Ms Streisand and she has successfully captured the essence of the one and only "Funny Girl" herself.
This project began as many others in the tribute artistry business. Over the years, friends, family and strangers often remarked about her resemblance to Streisand in looks and mannerisms, as well as her voice, so in 2006 she began to think about it in a more serious way. Her Streisand impersonation had its premiere performance at the "Sunburst Convention for Look-Alikes and Celebrity Impersonators" in Orlando, Fl. in September, 2006. To say that the response was overwhelming would be an understatement.
Since that time she has entertained at everything from private parties to corporate events, benefits and fundraisers, Synagogues and Jewish Community Centers, theatres and clubs, and she has performed several times on the Legends Stage at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas. She even showed up at a corporate fundraiser as Roz Focker, Ms Streisand’s alter ego from the movie, "Meet the Fockers".
In September 2008, she was awarded the "Agent’s Best Impressed Award" at the Sunburst Convention of Celebrity Tribute Artists, which was voted on by agents and talent buyers from all over the country. Following that, in May of 2009, she was honored with the "Rising Star Award" at the Reel Awards in Las Vegas. This award was voted on by agents and industry professionals, as well as her fellow tribute artists. Most recently, in August of 2009, at the Sunburst Convention, she was nominated once again for the "Agent’s Best Impressed Award" and was given yet another prestigious industry award, the "Best Overall Celebrity Re-Creation Award" voted on by agents and fellow tribute artists.
An uncanny resemblance to "Vintage" 1964 Barbra, as well as her skill in portraying Ms Streisand as we know her now, has given her the ability to create a show that is completely unique. Entitled "Then and Now…A Tribute to the Artistry of Barbra Streisand" , this show, in 2 acts, encompasses the classic songs (and the ‘look') so closely identified with the singer in the early days, as well as the songs she has made her very own in more recent years. "Then and Now" is distinctive in the industry, as no one else performs as both the younger and the more mature artist. In the 1st Act you might reminisce while listening to songs such as "I'm the Greatest Star", "Don't Rain on My Parade", "Starting Here, Starting Now", and "On a Clear Day" , while in the 2nd Act songs like "The Way We Were", "Stoney End", "Somewhere", "Evergreen" and "Papa Can You Hear Me?" will bring back many more memories.
